Let the battery take the strain as you cycle the highways and byways of the Scottish Borders.
What we like:
The Scottish Borders offer some of the finest cycling routes in the UK - but there's no getting past the fact that the Southern Uplands do feature rather a lot of hills.
Enter the E-bike - all the normal features of a conventional bicycle but with the added benefit of a battery powered motor to help you on your way.
With a range of between 40 and 90 miles - depending on how much assistance you require - these hybrid cycles bring much more of the beautiful countryside within the range of even those whose last encounter with a bike is a dim and distant memory, possibly involving choppers.
As an added bonus, these bikes come with tyres that should get you home even in the event of a puncture.
Where it is:
Bob will deliver the bikes right to the doorstep of The Five Turrets - all you have to do is decide where you want to go and then hop on. To get you started, we've put together a guide to some of the best cycling routes in the central Scottish Borders - all starting and finishing in Selkirk. Click the picture below to view it as a PDF.
What it costs:
From £30 a day for one bike - but we've arranged a small discount if you are after a longer hire. There are eight bikes available including four step through and the company will deliver and collect them. They come with helmets and a backpack containing everything you'll need, including a charger and pump.
